I've walked through the Plaza Mayor and down the steps in the southwest corner onto Calle de Cuchilleros. There are quite a few of there old traditional restaurants in the arches. I'm having a beer in one now where there's this old boy playing a accordian with a drum machine.
I was going to find a restaurant to eat. Decided against that and going for a few different tapas and snacks in various bars, much more interesting. Had classics patatas bravas and manchego cheese so far. Will wander more and see where I end up.
I'm off to Madrid this morning, flying back tomorrow night. Was up at 3am for the drive to airport.
Had to replace the brake pads on my bike on 26/10/09. Had done about 560 miles on them.
Stayed at the Ibis Euston. Had lunch at a restaurant/cafe by Euston called Puccino's. The photo sums up the place.
Then went to the Tower of London. Then to the Cittie of York pub on High Holborn. We tried also the Mitre, just down a little alley between Ely Place and Hatton Gardens, but its only open Monday to Friday.Looks good. We then got a taxi to Soho and had Italian food in Amalfi restaurant and some beers at the Dog and Duck, just round the corner on Frith Street.
