Window cleaning (or why I'm trying to kick the Microsoft habit)

Excellent and interesting post.

And thanks for the link too! I have to admit that I'm also quite (surprised but) pleased that you're going to give Kubuntu 12 months. I read so much of knee-jerk "Eek, I can't run Norton Antivirus, this thing can't be for me" reactions, so it will be interesting to see how you do.

But don't be a stranger... do post regularly on your experiences, and to get the most out of it, I'd suggest that you sign up to a couple of mailing lists too. One of the strengths of software like this is the community, rather than the large corporate backer. It really is a different way of thinking about things, in my opinion, but much more satisfying.

Have fun!
Good post.

I've been using Ubuntu for approximately 6 months and I still have no interest in returning to Windows. I just don't have the need.

I liked your comment about not hating Microsoft or windows, that is a good view to have, sometimes people get over the top crazy and fanatical over the OS of their computer (hello apple slappy). don't be apathetic, appreciate the system you have and it will be good to you.

Good luck with Linux. I made the switch late last summer. I started with Ubuntu, then Kubuntu, then settled on PCLinuxOS with several other distros in the mix along the way. I won't be going back to Microshaft.
Thanks Thepaul and Lyric for your comments
